Week 2 of Finals Wrap Up

Week three of finals sees our U13 netballers as the final team representing the club - we wish them the best of luck knowing that they will represent the club with distinction win, lose or draw.

Unfortunately, our U18 footballers along with our netballers from B Grade, C Grade & U15 lost last week bringing to an end what has been a great season. To have five of ten teams representing the club two weeks into a final series is a great outcome for our club. Hopefully the girls can get a win on the board and continue onto the grand final.

Last week the under 18s put in a terrific performance after a somewhat slow start in their match the guys settled down to control much of the match unfortunately catch up footy is the hardest type of footy to play and they were unable to snatch the lead in the final minutes. Although the end result was disappointing the effort was faultless and they can be extremely proud of what they achieved this season Devin Orr dominated down back Josh Milne controlled the mid field with Reece Wynd (5 Goals) Jack Cunningham and Lachie Opie playing well.

Over on the netball court our B Grade girls put in a great effort continually pushing their opposition but like the U18 footballers could not gain advantage on the score board Emma Hull and Courtney Righetti were in fine form in what was a terrific team performance in a pressure filled match.

The C Grade girls put in a good effort playing well throughout,.but were unable to gain the ascendency on the scoreboard Kelsey Lacey, Annie Harris and Hannah Rowe played well in a team that had good contributions from the entire group throughout the season well done girls.

The U15s suffered a loss but are to be congratulated on the way they fought the match out in an absolute nail biter the girls can be very proud of the way they conducted themselves over the season Grace Charry, Kiah McCahon and Isabelle Dwyer all played well.

Our U13s were stellar continuing on to this week’s preliminary final after what could only be best be described as an outstanding team performance Ruby Francis and Amity Smith played great games in what was an exciting affair well done girls It was fantastic to see how well the girls soaked up the pressure. Best of luck this week girls. It was great to see such a huge group of Newlyn supporters at all of the matches we know that this will continue this week.

Go Cats!
