2018 CHFL Season - Week 1 of Finals Wrap Up

Week one of finals was a successful weekend as five of our six teams participating making it through to week two.

Last weeks must win senior match against Hepburn was one of the most resilient efforts by the team for a long time. The game was played in difficult conditions as the guys got off to a great start. A handy half time lead was whittled away in the third quarter which set the match up for an exciting final quarter. The last quarter was an exciting tight affair as both teams wrestled for the lead the final siren was a welcome sound although a shot for goal after the siren from the boundary fell just short to give us a well-earned victory Joel Wilmott was dominant all day whilst Steve Clifton, Myles Sewell and Luke Prendergast were also good contributors. This week’s game against Gordon will be another tough ask but we are all confident the guys are up for the challenge.

The under 18s were solid all day in difficult conditions unfortunately a serious knee injury to Devin Orr took the shine off what was a terrific win. Jed Labbett, Fraser Lowe, Tyler Cassells and Alex Ritchie were strong contributors. This week the boys take on Springbank hopefully another good performance will see them progress.

Over on the netball court, our The B Grade girls kept their season alive with a fantastic win. Kristina Clohesy, Courtney Righetti and Gabby Carson were outstanding.

The C Grade girls got off to a terrific start but struggled late in the match bringing their season to an end Nat Maher and Nicole McKay played well.

The U17s had a great win keeping their campaign alive. Maggie Russell and Georgia Martino were in fine form.

Our U15s took out a strong victory they too willi be looking to keep their season alive this weekend Kenzie Mahar and Grace Charry were the better players on the day.

All the best to our teams this weekend. We’ll be right behind you
